Slickr is a dynamic screensaver that pulls images from Flickr and displays them with some nice OpenGL fading, panning, zooming, etc.. You can create slideshows based on user, group, keyword, and so on. Pretty cool..

For those of you who’ve seen this way too many times at the office, here’s a huge list of proxy surfing sites that will allow you to visit sites blocked by your work proxy. Very handy!

Verdict: bleh… People don’t seem extremely thrilled with what they’re getting for [after a game or two and a couple controllers] over $500. I’m sure it’s gonna be a huge smash this holiday season anyway.

I’d wait til next year to a) see what the competition holds, b) see what neat hacks the xbox community and mod-chippers come up with for this thing (if any), c) let the price drop a bit.

In the meantime, I think I’m gonna pick up the oldschool Xbox (hopefully it’ll hit $99 soon) and turn it into a hooked up media center.
